Magazine Titles Options 

The first title I have chosen to name my school magazine is called "The School Life". I've decided to name the magazine this because it give my target audience an insight that the magazine is aimed at school children as well as parents. The title tells us that it is about school events and informs students about what is happening in the schools news.

The second title I have chosen to name my school magazine is called "Time For School" I've decided to name the magazine this because it would be automatically recognised as a school magazine. Using the word "Time" in the title suggests that this is about all the opportunities which will be in the magazine and how the school do not want to miss out.

The third title I have chosen to name my school magazine is called "Let's talk about School". I've decided to name the magazine this because it sounds catchy and can link to some song and show titles people may know of. By making this link, students are likely to pick it up and read the magazine.

Magazine Main Image Options 

The first image that I have thought about posting on the front cover is a group of students casually chatting and sitting on the stairs. This gives an idea on how the magazine is run and how it is super dependant on the students facts and ideas. Due to this, it makes the audience believe that they are likely to know the person who wrote the article and relate to the article easily. 

The second image that  I have thought about posting on the front cover is a picture of the school and students jumping all at the same time. This give us an idea on how enjoyable activities at the school. This proves to students and adults on how the school magazine presents itself at it reaches out to the parents but also to students on how they can get experience or help with CV etc.

My third image that I have thought about posting on the front cover is a picture of the a class reading or a student helping another student, This give the impression of children learning off one another and helping each other through learning choices.

Coverline/Article Options

The first article I've decided to include on the front cover of the magazine is "We need to talk about *Maths, English, Science etc*" This implies that in each article, each subject/dept in the school has a say in what has happened in the week and what they are looking forward to. This is a way of advertising opportunities to the students and advising parents to encourage their children to take up the opportunity.

The second article I have decided to include on the front cover of the magazine is "The School Games". This article will feature every month and will be the schools competition page. It will advertise competitions that the school have won/taken part in and also different competition winners and new competitions and prizes that are available to the students.

The first coverline I have decided to include on the front cover of the magazine is "The Parents Page" This coverline will include everything parents would need to know about the school this week. In case they have missed anything the parents can catch up through a weekly magazine from the school. This helps improve communication between the school and parents/Carers and helps the students understand certain things happening in the school more. 

The second coverline I have decided to include on the front cover of the magazine is "Exclusive interview with Tom Hiddleston about universities" this gives parents, carers and students an idea on which important people the school know and gives an impression that  some celebrities care about education. Also, for some students seeing a role model talking about universities encourage and influences them to think about their future more.

Preliminary Task 1: Annotating School Magazine Front Covers

Research-Representation and Genre Front Cover

                                             
In this billboard magazine cover, Beyonce is represented as a inspiration, powerful and passionate icon. Beyonce is known to bring power into every song she has worked and viewed as a queen through her fans. She has a very unique way of expressing her thoughts through her music especially her most recent album "Lemonade" which was about her expressing her thoughts about police brutality and the campaign "Black Lives Matter". Her quote "I want to be an icon" suggests on how she wants to make a dramatic difference within her work and share it with the public. Beyonce is looking directly into the camera which creates a direct mode of address towards her fans. This makes her more respected and valued as an artist through this front cover because of how realistic her quote is it represents her as a normal person with big hopes, instead of a celebrity who just wants money and fame. The audience values Beyonce as an inspiration as she is known to bring powerful messages through each song. This makes the audience look up to her and follow her like she has a goddess figure as in the tagline it quotes her saying "I want be an icon" and by her successful career it makes the audience feel like she's very successful and already have become an icon and a role model to other people.

Genre

What is usually seen with pop magazines is that they have a big variety of colour and usually have typical bands. However, this billboard magazine does not promote any music. It has a down to earth interview with Beyonce over her music. They express her music differently to other pop music/artist even though it is from the same genre. This is expected due to Beyonce known to be very popular and very respected.

Planning 

The front cover of the Billboard magazine give me an insight on how a celebrity can be presented in a subtle way instead of using a huge variety of colour and using lots of taglines to present a celebrity. This has shown me that certain celebrities can be presented with dark colours can have the biggest meanings.

Research-Music Magazine Analysis

                                                  

In the Rolling Stone magazine front cover, The Weeknd is represented as mysterious, relaxed and very laid back.  He has a very unique sense of creativity which is presented clearly throughout his work and this magazine cover portrays a portion of his personality and works style. The camerawork is used to create suspicion and curiosity within the shot. The close up shot displays The Weekend doesn't need bright colours to stand out off the page.It also suggests on how we wants to published himself to his fans. Unlike other celebrities who have big releases and talk about what their plans are for future songs, The Weeknd likes to stay mysterious with his music and by using this shot type to catch his emotion and pose it shows how serious he is about his music. The way he is positioned in the front cover demonstrates how he wants to be represented as important and significant. Also, the close up shot with the direct gaze shows his seriousness and his relaxed side at the same time.

The Weeknd is wearing dark colours like black and brown. Black connotes an essence of power and mystery. Which gives an impression about how he likes to reveal himself to his fans. However, the brown background has the meaning of warmth and nature which can suggests about his inner self. the black shows himself in front of the camera but the brown shows us about how he is off the camera. Which is important because that shows mystery within himself and his music to his fans. The lighting used on this picture is only focused on his face and not anywhere else on the picture meaning that the editor believes that he face would get loads of readers in on his own. Especially as he covers the trade mark title of the page which proves that they want him so seem so power yet so mysterious within the picture. His emotionless expression presents how he wants to be seen as dark, hidden artist.

Planning
The front cover of The Weeknd present and give an insight on how some celebrities want to be hidden but well known at the same time. I've learnt that darker colours can also have big meanings and having the most simplest cover photo can have various connotations.
